Is it time yet?

Having to leave my older two children every night so that I can stay with my baby is awful. It is a time of day filled with tears and pleads. Dan brings them up nightly for an early dinner and some time together and then its home for them and a hospital bed for me - the drive is almost an hour (one way). They want so much for mom and Kourtney to come home, I want that too.

The doctors told us that maybe tomorrow would be the day, now they have been telling us that for days but we are very hopeful. She has greatly improved and we feel confident enough to bring her home. We are aware that she will require extra TLC and are more than ready to give it to her.
One of the best things about it is that I have a lot of free time so I can post more often, and I have also been figuring out some of that Facebook stuff (it really is way beyond me, but I am trying).

Still here

We are still at the hospital. On Monday we where told that the day to go home was here. Dan came and brought all of her stuff (oxygen, monitor, jammies, and car seat) we loaded the car with all the junk I had (clothes, food, shoes, ect...) and we were ready to go. Before we actually managed to leave her heart rate went really high (208) and her breathing became strained (and this was all just out of no where). The Docs decided that she had to stay and be watched. Then they decided she has a virus of some sort (not RSV,they tested her twice for that) and now we are here until it runs its course. She had to be moved because she was in a semi-private room but is no longer considered "clean" because she is sick not just recovering. We where moved into a private room "isolation",but then moved again into another room that was also private but she had to share it. That was horrible, horrible, horrible -We had to fit 2 babies and 2 adults into a room meant for 1baby and 1 adult. I was pretty upset last night (and that is putting it mildly). I took a picture of my area to give everyone and idea of what i was dealing with.

now this chair is a bed when it is pulled out. The trouble was that when it is pulled out only on person could be by Kourtneys crib. Now she requires a whole team for her care (4 doctors, 1 nurse, and 1 tech) plus this is a teaching hospital so the nurse has a student with her. The monitor was not one hooked up at the nurses station and because we were in the back corner they could not hear the beeping so I was constantly going to the nurses station. Luckly this after noon we were moved into an actual private room (and it is not equipped to share, so her nurse told me that there is no way they can move someone else in here with us). Because she is not consider "clean" (she has a virus) but not "dirty" either (no RSV) she hopefully gets to keep this room until she goes home (unless they run out of room and once again become over crowded). I will never complain about a semi-private room again, I learned my leason. I hope she gets to come home soon, Kadrey and Jaxon both cried tonight when they had to leave and I was staying here again(plus they miss Kourtney and its not the same to give her kisses with a hospital mask on), it is not the greatest thing to be in the hospital. I am just glad that her problems started while we were still here and not on the ride home.

Surgery pictures

Dan found my camera (Yay). So here are the pictures.
Before her surgery

and after - now she is a little drugged up, but you get the idea right!

Surgery

The surgery went great. I do have before and after pictures but I am unsure of the location of my camera. The difference is amazing. I can barley even see the stitches, you would never guess how open her lip was. She was moved from the PICU after only on night and is now on the infant floor. She has been having some trouble and our stay keeps getting prolonged. She is mostly having a hard time with her mucus and they have had to suction her out a lot. Her breathing has also been rapid and she has had an increase of seizures, it is believed that this is related to her antibiotics and also her pain. I was told that hopefully she can come home tomorrow but I am not getting my hopes up because we have been being told that since Thursday. I am not totally surprised we are still here. I was aware that she has problems that are mostly unknown, and so the way things turn out are never for sure. But she is doing well and we are happy. I think after this bump in the road she will be a lot happier also, I mean who would be more happy without tape on their face and a prosthetic in their mouth.

Us

My goodness........Kourtney is having surgery on Wednesday. I can't believe it has been 2 months and the time is almost here, really the closer it gets the slower it seems to be. I am very anxious to get this stage over so that we can return to "normal" afterwards. I think its mostly the unknown that worries me but I know that everything will work out. Its not so much the surgery that is stressing me but the recovering.

Jax and Dree both went to the dentist today. Kadrey had to get 2 of her teeth pulled ( she gets 2 more pulled in a couple of weeks) She is doing pretty good and the pain seems minimal. The root from her bottom tooth was super long, it was pretty crazy. Jax got one of his cavities filled. It took a half hour and three people holding him (well, the dentist was one of them so I guess really 2 people) so the dentist decided we should come back at another time to fill the other one. After the ordeal Jax informed me that he bit the dentist hand (i would not want a job that required me to put my fingers into the mouths of naughty kids, what a brave man). He is a such a stinker.

BIG Girl Bath

Kourtney had her first big girl bath today. Well actually, she had them in the NICU before her g-tube surgery, but since then only sponge baths. Every night I get all the many iteams I need and start the long process of her bath. I decided that the time has come for a reg. bath. She didnt like it so much but I think she will grow to enjoy it, plus it cut bath time in more than half. She is not a huge fan of baths either way, but its a pretty exciting step for us.

Its me...

So, it has been forever since I last posted anything I decided that it was time. You know every time I get on line I check out peoples blogs and I am always disappointed when there is not something new on their page, I can't expect different then what I do right?!

Christmas has come and gone, we sure did have a lot of fun. We also had many kind, loving, generous people helping us out and as a result that kids had the best christmas "ever". So Thank you! The whole day was great (well, no sleeping in but when do I ever get that)- Kadrey and Jax both got new bikes and they were so excited, the official wait for summer is here. We spent the afternoon/evening at my parents house and Kourtney got to meet papa John for the first time. We had all the kids and cousins there, it was nice to be all together (we don't get out much and its fun to be with people we love.) New Years was pretty uneventful at our house. Dree was so excited to return to school, and we were pretty excited too. Jax was not really as happy and is showing typical boy behavior and not loving school. I hope you all have had a wonderful holiday season, and that you all have fun with the snow:) I know we are (somedays)!
